Who am I? Why, I’m glad you asked!….Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,..a tale of a fateful trip…..that started in this tropic port aboard this tiny ship…..

I wasn’t born a poor black child…that was Navin Johnson…..But I WAS born, so we have THAT in common! Born a bunch of years ago, to two folks that couldn’t keep it together past my younger sisters birth. Moved a lot, dodged bill collectors a lot, changed schools a lot….sensing a theme here…….stability was not my friend. I never met either of my grandfathers they were both dead before i was born which, looking back now, as a grandpa myself, sucks big time.

I was always smart, but lazy. And it seems like I must do dumb shit at least 2-3 times, and get kicked hard,

for it to sink in!

I was once married to the woman of my dreams….Didn’t last forever though……almost 29 years…But, on the bright side, we have 2 wonderful adult kids, and 2 awesome grandkids! We both ended up not caring enough to keep it together, and it bums me out almost every day that I messed up so much of it.

I was in the US Army for awhile,  both before I got married, and after…about 6 and a half years during the tail end of the Carter years, and the beginning of Reagan’s first term. Spent time in Arizona, Germany,Panama, with shorter stints in Alaska, and California as a telephone installer/repairman and a mechanic on tracked vehicles.

I started driving an 18 wheeler in the late ’80’s for North American Van Lines in St. Louis,MO through their agent Cord Moving and Storage. I did the HHG thing for about 8-9 years, buying a used truck and becoming an Owner-Operator. Then, because I desired to be home more often, I started doing local work for various companies in and around the st Louis area. Transport Delivery Co,Affton Trucking,Jung Truck Service. However, in order to keep a roof over our heads, I needed to go back out over the road, and worked for Conway Truckload till they were bought out by Covenant. Then I hooked up with Ryder. That job was local, supplying the Chrysler Plants in Fenton with parts. But in 9 months there we were laid off 4 times! Great for the senior folks. They had vacay, and could work if they wanted to. But I didn’t have those options, so I moved on to JB Hunt. Stayed there for 5 years, and then moved to Crete Carrier out of Lincoln,NE. I worked for them for 9 years. Just recently, since december of 2014, I am working at Golden State foods in Lebanon,IL. Home every night, and decent bucks, too!

Anyway, that’s an extra special glimpse into my life…

lets play a game,shall we?

ME: knock knock

YOU: who’s there?

ME: orange.

YOU: orange who?

ME:orange ya glad you stopped by?
